For those of you on facebook, we will be posting the events shortly! Hope to see you at one of the shows, it’s been awhile…
Hello everyone! Just thought I would stop by and say hello and to let you know what has been going on in the Turner Band camp
We have been practicing and playing around town gettin’ drunk and switching members around. We performed acoustically where Paul Albert had to play guitar instead of bass and Jason Allen had to play bass instead of drums. We had our friend Vik from Trophy Wife sit in on hand drums and practiced a few times. The show sounded something like this. You Walk Away performed acoustically http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDF8v2k7V0Y&feature=youtu.be
It was fun doing the unplugged thing and we will be doing it again on May 10th at Tree’s Organic Coffee House in Vancouver B.C. Also performing will be Devil In The Wood Shack https://www.facebook.com/DevilInTheWoodShack & This is Shoes http://thisistheshoes.bandcamp.com/album/this-is-the-shoes. Check our shows on Reverbnation or at our website http://joeturner.ca/ for show times and most importantly directions on how to get there!
We have been switching band members around also in the past few weeks, for example Paul Albert has migrated from Bass Guitar to Guitar! We also have a new member to welcome into the fold, Mr. Paul Riches! Paul Riches will be taking over Bass duites for Paul Albert. Yeah I know 2 Pauls! Arrrggggghhh!! I’m sure we’ll come up with a system
Paul Riches just played his first gig with us last week at the B-EX in Vancouver B.C. and was fantastic! He is a great fit for the band and I am glad he found his way to us! Welcome aboard Paul!
We are also looking forward to the Great Bear Pub on May 18th! Along with Smiling with the Wisdoms. Great place to come hang out, great food and a great staff! We will be hitting the stage around 10:30pm but come down early to catch the rest of the music! There is NO COVER!!!!
Last Friday night (4:20) we played the B-EX in Vancouver for CiTR 101.9 & Vanmusic.ca’s Indie Music Series #27 – The 420 Special. We Had a blast performing on the same bill as Chris Jones http://cottonmouthjones.com & The Harvest https://www.facebook.com/theharvestrocks .
Here is some audio and pictures from that show of the song Won’t Hold You To Blame from the album Seven Songs of Sorrow. Hope you Enjoy it!
Until next time!

Earlier than expected, Seven Songs of Sorrow is released on iTunes.
I would like to thank all the people who gave me a hand making this album. These people are Jillian Bradley, Kurt Thys (piano & organ), Johnny “Rock” Saumang (Guitar solos on Think I’ll Pack It In & Won’t Hold You To Blame) Danny Craig (cajun Box on Think I’ll Pack It In) Vogville studios for the great rates and the beautiful studio and Josh Asselstine for editing the drums and assisting in the engineering. Last but not least I would like to thank John Franco for coming in and rescuing my album with his awesome remixing job and bashing on the drums for most of the tracks. This CD, that was intended to be an acoustic CD but grew into an acoustic rock CD overnight with the help of these people and I owe them all for their help.
2011 has been a long year, most of it spent recording and playing small acoustic shows and I am glad it is almost over and a fresh new year with a great new CD to support will hopefully make 2012 a lot more fun. I am hoping to get out and play with my new band sometime in the beginning of 2012. things are starting to come together on that front so I am excited to play with a bunch of great new musicians who can bring this CD to life live.
The CD’s themselves will be sold at upcoming shows plus you will be able to get them at my new merch store coming soon to www.joeturner.ca . There will be shirts, CD’s and many more items for sale. There will also be a few limited edition items for fans like free downloads of songs that are either demo versions of songs form the new CD or songs that didn’t make it onto the CD. Also, I am working on a limited edition songbook that will have the the lyrics to Seven Songs of Sorrow and other cool stuff included so look for that.
On a final note, I will be playing the last of my solo acoustic sets December 9th at the Princeton Pub so you should come on out. It’s also my good friend Chris Jones (Cottonmouth Jones) birthday so it should be one great time!
Cottonmouth Jones & The Executives will also be performing that night. You can visit the facebook event here https://www.facebook.com/events/257632134289114/ for more details
Until next time…
